What are the Fruits of the HolySpirit?

Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.

There are nine fruits of the HolySpirit. Any Christian believer filled with the HolySpirit must possess them. When the HolySpirit comes upon you. He comes to fill you with all these fruits so that you begin to bear them. People around you will notice something different about you.

I remember when I was filled with the HolySpirit. It was back in 2016. All of a sudden I felt so much peace in my heart. Is there peace from the above scripture? yes! so that’s evidence of him dwelling in me. I also felt Joy, love, and the rest of the fruits. Somebody reading this post may be asking how I get filled with his presence.

For me to be filled with the HolySpirit. I had a lot going on. So what happened was I watched a video that spoke about the HolySpirit and of course, there were so many videos out there, especially on YouTube. But this one was unique! I listened and the person narrating described how to get the HolySpirit and speak in tongues as well.

Before watching the video I had a desire for the HolySpirit to fill me. Take note of the keyword desire it’s important for you to acquire anything you want in this universe.

It did not take long before the Lord filled me with his Spirit. But let me describe to you something here. Before I had said a lot was going on. What I mean, is I was struggling with various addictions. I had no intimacy with Christ.

Then what happened I attended a fellowship that I found in India when I was studying for my undergraduate. In this fellowship, I began to know more about Christ. The other brethren were already filled with the HolySpirit. So that’s where the desire came from.

It took some time for God to mold me. At first, I did not know but afterwords I can testify the Lord was preparing me to receive him at a given moment in time.:) Now just as I said I was struggling with addictions. I approached one of the members of the fellowship who became a dear friend to me. I explained to him the struggles I had and he prayed for me. I remember It was back in 2016. After a period of days, the Lord filled me with his Spirit and I was a new man.

The Bible says Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new. Indeed! (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)

So that’s my story and a true one. I can promise you without a doubt when you get filled with the Spirit of God you experience a whole new life. It’s like being born again from your mother’s womb but you come out a different person with a different mindset, heart, etc. Nicodemus asked Jesus a question observe carefully the scripture below…

“How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.  John 3:4-7 (ESV)

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and if you know well Pharisees were the most religious people. They never believed in the baptism of the HolySpirit and argued with Christ on many occasions. To cut the story short. One of the hindrances to receiving the HolySpirit is religiousness. In Religiousness I mean self-righteousness.

To mean you can be holy through works alone. Anyway, the purpose of the scripture above is to illustrate that to be born again in Christ you need the baptism of the HolyGhost.
